Dr Laurence Brown
Laurence’s expertise focuses on past and present migrations. His research is concerned with immigration in modern Britain and France, Caribbean history and Historical GIS.
Dr Bridget Byrne
Bridget's expertise focuses on citizenship, race and gender. Her research is concerned with approaches to secondary school choice in order to explore the ways in which space and locality impact on identity, in particular through research on the racialised and classed nature of school catchment areas.
Dr Nissa Finney
Nissa's expertise focuses on spatial inequalities and the links between residential and social mobility. Her research is concerned with understanding why people live where they do, and how this matters for their lives and for social relations.
Dr Rob Ford
Rob's expertise focuses on voting behaviour in Britain and comparatively. He has recently completed the first academic study of support for UKIP, and is currently working on projects examining immigration attitudes, anti-racism social norms, and attitudes to the welfare state.
Professor James Nazroo
James’s expertise focuses on ethnic inequalities. His research is concerned with gender inequalities in mental health, marital violence and ethnic inequalities in health.
Dr Andrew Smith
Andrew’s expertise focuses on literature, sport and creative cultures more generally, in the colonial and postcolonial contexts. His research has been concerned with the discussion of the concepts of cultural hybridity, diaspora and migration in recent social and cultural theory.
